I’ve been seeing some stuff that pisses me off; what else is new? As I get older, I imagine this will be more and more of a thing. Most of the time, I just let it roll off; do I really give a F about it? Probably not. However, if it’s something in my wheelhouse (sports, duh!), then I need to say something about it; this was one of the primary reasons for writing this here thing. And in this here thing, I’ve carved out a perfect little spot for all my hate; welcome to the 59th edition of The Hate Files.

Today, we’ve got a brand new target for my hate; we’ll call them “The after-the-fact Trash Talkers”. Don’t you just hate that? Your team suffers a difficult defeat, and out come the trash talkers. The game/series is over; nothing can be done about it. This is why these assholes have free reign; they can trash and trash and trash your team, and nothing can be done about it until next game, and in the case of a playoff loss, next year. There is no risk for them; they can open their mouth and say whatever they want… because it’s already OVER!!! Where were these big mouths before Game 1? It’s like Jordan said in The Last Dance… really easy to talk trash once the game is over… how about you talk that trash when the score is 0-0… yeah, exactly.

So I think… have I ever done this? I’m not going to lie, maybe; so I hate myself? Um, not exactly… I have done things I’m not proud of over the years, but… I justify my ways, plus, there is no secret to which teams/players I hate. I’ll talk trash before during AND after the game is done; that’s OK… I checked the first two boxes. I wasn’t just quiet before the game… keeping my mouth shut during the game… and then AFTER the game, I’m yelling my ass off. No, that’s not how I roll. I root for my team hard, just like I did in Miami during the Bulls last game this season. You have to put yourself out there, if you’re a true fan; you put yourself, your emotions, and sometimes, your physical safety on the line. If you win, it’s glorious; if you lose, well, not so much… but hey, you were on it from the jump, you just didn’t come along at the end, open your mouth, and say “I told you so”… those people are bitches.

I’ve seen some of that lately, including… go figure… the biggest bitch of them all. After the Lakers dispatched of the injury depleted Grizzlies, Lebron went to Twitter for some cryptic, don’t mess with me type shit; I hate when that shit comes across my timeline. Of course he did… AFTER the series was over; it was safe to open his mouth then… that makes perfect sense coming from that afraid of failure, so surround yourself with great players, and have NBA and the refs on your side over the hill bum. I’ve seen a lot of people dancing on the Bruins’ grave after they choked their season away. Hey, it’s really rare that I root for any team from Boston; I wanted them to lose from the get go, but man… once they DID lose… people unleashed… just waiting for their moment of glory. I’m sure those people weren’t running their mouths when the Bruins were up 3-1… IF you were, have at it; if you were quiet then, keep your mouth shut now. Simple.

Point is.. be true with it. If you love your team, let it be known, in ANY situation. If you hate a team, talk shit about them from the jump. Don’t come around at the end, when a team wins and jump on their bandwagon, or when they lose, and trash their asses; that’s some weak ass shit. Because IF you’re a true fan, you know how it feels; you know how it feels to take that devastating defeat to the dome… hopefully you’ve experienced the glory of reaching the pinnacle as well. It’s a roller coaster; ride it… don’t just wait at the end of the ride, celebrating a win you really weren’t a part of, or throwing trash on the grave of a team once they are 100% done. Coming to the party late, and reveling in a team’s downfall… that’s really easy, isn’t it? Hate that weak stuff. Go back to whatever you were doing, and leave this stuff to the real fans… the ones who fight about this stuff year in year out. I can revel in the Packers losing because I’ve hated them for decades; this is nothing new. Don’t just come throw trash on graves when it’s convenient or popular. That felt like a pretty mild Hate File, right? Next…
