Anybody else ready for a reality break? Well, I’m here for you. I know everyone is very interested; I keep getting emails to talk about it more. I have to give the people what they want. Step out of the day to day and into my world as Fantasy Football GM.

Two leagues? I know some guys may think grown men keeping track of other men’s stats all week is stupid. Some guys may save all their fantasies for women. To all those guys I say, you must never have tried it. Fantasy football is awesome OK. Maybe you know, maybe you don’t, but let me remind you; I’ve been playing fantasy football for almost 30 years. Yeah, I was on this train long before it became came rumbling through every home throughout the country. I was doing this when tracking those stats was done by hand, where you HAD to do the draft in person. It was fun then, and it’s fun now. As usual, it’s especially fun when you’re winning, like I am in my “big money” fantasy league. Yeah, at 7-2 I’m tied for first place. The thing is, about this big money league that I’ve been in for about a decade, I’ve never won it. Fantasy baseball multiple time champion; fantasy basketball when I was playing, winner. Yet the game I’ve been playing the most, I can never get over the hump. Hopefully this is the year.

Drew Brees may not provide the confidence as he once did, but he’s still legit. Still, picking up Justin Herbert after his first start in the league was a smart move. Having options is important, especially coming down the stretch when faced with specific matchups, and increasingly different motivations from each team. Maybe that’s why I have 4 defenses on my team at this point. I remember back in the day, actually it was last year, where I thought anybody with more than 2 defenses on their team was stupid…now, I double down and carry 4!?!? It’s all about those matchups, plus I remember getting burned by opposing fantasy defenses in the playoffs when my opponent had an absolute cupcake matchup. So, I’m trying to prepare myself; something you can do when making the playoffs is all but guaranteed at this point. Like why do I carry the Browns defense? Well, check who they play in week 15 and 16; I’ll save you the time… it’s the Giants and Jets. Sure I may not get that first week bye and avoid the first week of the playoffs in week 14; that’s why I have the Bears and the Saints defense. And I still need to make the playoffs, that’s why I have the Dolphins defense. Call me crazy, but I’m feeling good about this. It’s important to realize that no matter how long you’ve been doing something, you can still learn something new. Changing up strategies is a must, especially when trying to break through and win a league you never have.

I guess this is why I changed my team name. With the help of my son, I dropped the “Chicago Blitz” name after many years. Since I changed my team picture to my dog, the name “Sleeping Dogs” popped into my head; a new name, a new attitude. It always helps to have a stud like Kamara on your roster as well. Am I going to have to double up on talking fantasy football? I haven’t even talked about my other team yet… OK, OK… I will do that next… I’m doing this for the people, remember. Take these fantasy tidbits and turn them into some wins in your league. You’re welcome… haha.
