I don’t know about you, but lately, in the NFL, it’s been rough sledding. I started off the season on fire, but the last couple weeks, I’ve certainly come back down to earth. I should have known… after that NFL week where I went 6-0 on Sunday, I knew Vegas was coming for me… haha. I took a hit last weekend, and barely got above even this Sunday. Thankfully, during this tough stretch, the only thing that has been impacted has been the progress of building my bankroll; thankfully, my bankroll hasn’t been tanking, but just… holding steady. I should be happy for that. Is that another sign of growth? I don’t know…
I’m waiting for my book to come in. The Gambler it’s called, and it was written by “the Michael Jordan of Sports Gambling”… I love that. You know when you say you’re the Michael Jordan of something, you’re implying that you’re the greatest to ever have done that something… nobody says they’re the “lebron james of something”… Anyways, waiting for that book; hoping to get some pointers after reading it. Something that will help me take my game to the next level; maybe I’m hyping it up too much. We’ll see. The fact that I’m still gambling after 10 months of opening my Draft Kings account is nuts. The fact that I haven’t lost any money throughout the entire timeframe is even more insane. Sure, as I always remind myself, the big bucks aren’t flowing in, but to be up $350 after 10 months with the semi-consistent small units I bet, not taking any chances, showing the discipline, grinding ahead… that is encouraging. I didn’t think I’d last past the bonus bets I received for opening my account…
Do I keep carrying ahead with this mission? Will sports gambling be able to provide me some supplemental income? Will betting on sports be something I’ll be able to win at consistently, and eventually carry me into and through retirement? I don’t know… I’ve been calling it my second job… And with any job, I think, even one that you have a passion for, you need a break. You need to take yourself out of the matrix; I think it’s true with this too, especially nowadays, when you have the NFL, NBA, NHL, College Football, and now, College Basketball available to wager on… it gets to be a little too much. This upcoming time when I will be in a state that does NOT allow online betting will be the perfect time for a little vacation from sports gambling…. of course, I’ll have to get my plays in early then… haha. Even so, to not “grind” for a few days, that will be… refreshing.
Until then though… Let’s take a peek at the upcoming week. With the college football games 6 days a week… sheesh. I’m learning a whole lot about a whole lot of teams that I never knew about… Lately, these weekday games are coming from the MAC… Toledo, Bowling Green, Kent State… and on and on and on we go…. haha.
