November 7, 2019: Another Win

posted in: Blackhawks | 0

OK, ok… 2 days in a row now?  First the Bulls on Wednesday, now the Blackhawks on Thursday.  What’s going on?  Do you think the Bears can follow that lead?  What I would do to see another Bears win…

But yes, the Blackhawks… not being totally fair to them.  They did win in Anaheim just a few days back before they sucked against the Sharks.  They’ve only had consecutive wins once this year, when they beat the Oilers and Blue Jackets back to back in mid-October.  It would be nice to string together a few here also… next chance, Saturday night in Pittsburgh.  The Blackhawks are near the bottom of the Western Conference… when do we pull the trigger on the best odds for the Stanley Cup?  Hey, if the Nationals could do it in baseball…  The Canucks were no slouch.  They sit towards the top of the Western Conference.  Yes, we were at home, but it was a really good win…. something to build on.  And, and.. Crow was in goal.  So there’s that.

Yes, in what will probably be Crawford’s last year with the Blackhawks, he still has it in him to play at a high level.  It appears we have 2 goalies in that spot.  That has to bode well, no?  Well, as we know, it’s not ONLY about the goalie play.  They can stand on their head, but if the defense keeps allowing shot after shot on goal, if the defense keeps letting the opponent possess the puck in our zone, things will eventually end badly.  36 saves on the night for Crawford was a welcome sight.  It was good to get some traction on the power play, which at times is feeble.  Two power play goals?  Really?  About time.

The DeBrincat goal was impressive as hell.  Not sure if it made the top plays of the night on ESPN, but it should have.  By the way, why does ESPN hate hockey so much?  On their website they have the NHL buried behind all kinds of crap.  Anyways, Alex was falling down between two defenders as he flicked a shot over the right shoulder of the Canuck goalie from a good distance away.  And Kane had a good game as well.  Nice to see them hold on for the win; I just knew the Canucks were going to tie it up in that 3rd period.  Thankfully, I was wrong.

Colliton has been another guy whose head has been called for on a platter.  Look, I didn’t like the fact that we gave Coach Q his walking papers; why do we send our coaching legends packing in Chicago?  But I think Jeremy deserves his chance as well.  After all, this is his first full year as head coach.  No need to make any rash decisions here.  If you want to go after StanBo, go ahead.  But Colliton, much like Boylen, deserves at least this year.  No need to call for his head; don’t we have enough Bears heads we’re waiting on?  The season is young, and yes, we don’t want to dig a hole, but I don’t think were there… yet.  We need to string them together, and get some consistency to our game.  It does feel good to win though…  now repeat! Go Hawks!
