October 16, 2020: Week 6 Preview Bears at Panthers

How you like us now? The Bears finally beat somebody last week, when they stifled Brady and the Bucs, and put up just enough points to get the win. Did that shut up the national media who don’t think too highly of us? No. That’s OK though… Sometimes carrying a chip on that shoulder is very effective.

Don’t think Papa is on board with us either. Vegas has the Panthers favored by 1.5 points this Sunday. Considering they are at home, and considering the 3 points for a home team that we’re still giving even though the stadiums aren’t full, the Bears are slightly favored I guess. Yeah, I like the Bears to win this Sunday; why wouldn’t I? Well, I guess if I have Teddy Bridgewater flashbacks back to the Bears Saints game last year at Soldier Field; that would be scary. The Saints torched us, and Nagy directed Trubisky to throw 50+ times in his first game back from injury; yeah, I remember that game. Couple differences: it’s the Panthers not the Saints who Teddy is slinging for nowadays, and the Bears slinger is somebody different. Sure, Nagy remains the same, and with a Carolina defense that is susceptible to the run, you’d certainly hope to see a heavy dosage of Montgomery, but Nagy is Nagy… Speaking of the running game, how about the Jets cutting one time fantasy God Le’veon Bell? Not sure about you, but I’m up for it. Pace? Anybody seen Pace since Trubisky’s benching? Make it happen bro. Somebody said something somewhere, can’t remember the details, but they made a good point. You don’t typically add a dynamic offensive lineman, or linemen in the middle of the season, and not saying Bell is that dynamic anymore, but who knows. Take a shot for a couple million for a 2nd half of the year boost to the offense? Where do I sign.

My thoughts on the offense and Foles goes like this: they will get better. Now that Foles is here to stay, we better start seeing improvements. The Bucs game was WAY better than the Colts game, and although there won’t always be better and better games each week, I don’t expect to see dramatic steps backward. I never ask for much; 20 points per game would be great, especially if our D plays like it did the 2nd half of the Bucs game, 2018 vintage.

Final Score Prediction: Bears 27 Panthers 16

It never surprises me the week to week whiplash in the NFL, especially with OUR team. After the Colts loss, I was feeling like crap; maybe we aren’t good. After the Bucs win, I was feeling great; 4-1 is legit baby! How will we feel after Sunday’s game? Well, the confidence is high, yet the team should still have something to prove; I like that combination. Let’s take care of business and stack up another W that nobody will give us credit for. Bear Down!!!
