October 2, 2019: Girardi

Fell asleep last night; missed the end of the NL Wild Card game. Anybody see what happened? When I came to after 11, I saw the text message: bye bye Brew. I smiled. It’s never as good as your team winning, but seeing a team you dislike lose…it’s kind of like eating Pizza Hut when I was in LA; it got me through.

Been driving to work again a few days a week. Being back in the car means I’m back in the loop with sports radio. This morning I was lucky enough to hear an interview with who I think should be the next manager of the Cubs: Joe Girardi.

Why not? I’ll tell you why. He has managerial experience. Do you want somebody without managerial experience? Experience that includes a World Series title. This is something we want to experience again. Experience in the biggest market with the biggest most successful baseball franchise of all time. You think he’ll blink dealing with the Chicago media? Now that the Cubs are no longer wandering in the desert without a title in forever, there’s not nearly as much pressure; I don’t care what anybody says. Sure, there’ll be pressure, but nothing at the 2016 level. This job will have some pressure trying to fill the shoes of the manager who accomplished this, but that’ll be 4 years removed come next year; crazy right? Good thing is that the talent is still here. Any manager would benefit from that.

He played the game too. This type of experience also counts with the players, right? He was a catcher. Lots of good managers were catchers. He knows how to call a game. He won 3 World Series as a player; not too shabby. Of course this would all happen after the Cubs traded him; we’ve seen this movie before. And yes, he did play for the Cubs. Not the most important thing here, but it doesn’t hurt. He’s from Peoria, went to Northwestern, so he’s a local boy; of course I like that too. All this wouldn’t mean so much by itself, but on top of the experience and success, it’s nice.

Both viagra price canada have similar effects, but are distinct in appearance. Why all the buzz and excitement? Well, you have http://amerikabulteni.com/2016/11/22/kennedy-ve-sanatcinin-ozgurlugu/ price for viagra a great reputation among their customers. There are several reasons why erectile dysfunction occurs, order generic viagra amerikabulteni.com the most common reason is stress. Due to the active action of PDE-5 enzyme, there is degradation of the enzyme called cGMP which fights with the enzymes that blocks sildenafil generic india blood and makes it relaxed.

He’s been away from the game too; I think there’s some benefit there. To see things from the outside, from the other side, provides some perspective. Per the interview, he wants to manage again; he sure seems like he’d love to manage the Cubs…who wouldn’t? Do the Cubs want him? He will be managing somewhere, that’s for sure.

What negatives are there regarding Girardi? I’ll have to do a little research I guess. The fact that he was with the Yankees while Theo was with the Red Sox; any hard feelings there? That would be hard to believe. Does being away from the game mean he’s out of touch with the game? He did work on MLB network, so don’t think he’s lost touch completely. He did play for the Cardinals for 16 games, but we won’t hold that against him. An overall 28-24 postseason record? That’s not the greatest. A quick search pulls up information about him being too intense; that’s a negative? It would certainly be a flip from Maddon; anybody would be. I thought that’s what we wanted.

I’m done. I’m not even looking at any of the other candidates. I knew how I felt already. After listening to this interview, I’m ready for Opening Day 2020 with Girardi at the helm. I’m setting myself up for disappointment if through the thorough manager search, Theo chooses someone else, but that’s ok. Maybe I’ll change my mind along the way too. Not likely though. Save some time Theo and focus on the roster. Joe Girardi, come on down! Go Cubs!
