October 23, 2020: Week 7 Preview Bears at Rams

posted in: Bears | 0

The worst 5-1 team in the history of the NFL travels to LALA land to take on the Rams. With the national perception plus the fact that Vegas is invaded by plenty of LA folks each and every weekend, the line for the game came out at Bears +7.5… I love it!

I love the fact that the Bears are getting no respect. But hold on… if Bears fans don’t even respect this team how can the national media respect them? First off, count me OUT of the group of Bears fans that don’t respect this team. Getting to 5-1 in the NFL is no fluke; the Bears are definitely legit. Does that mean I think right now they can beat the best teams in the NFL? Does that mean I think that the Bears could win the Super Bowl right now? No. Plain and simple, our offense isn’t ready… yet. Does this mean I think the offense can get their shit together over the rest of the regular season in time for the Bears to make a meaningful run in the postseason, including a potential Super Bowl title? YES… heck yeah.

Nobody is happy with the performance of the Bears offense at this point. Does that mean the Bears are a bad 5-1 team? Good teams find ways to win games; bad teams find ways to lose games. We are in that first group; the Bears are a good team, period. Anybody who says otherwise is a hater, but bring it on. Keep it coming. I’ve said it before… playing with that chip on your shoulder is real. That extra motivation during a 16 game season shouldn’t matter, but it does. Getting zero respect inspires guys to play harder each and every week. I think we’re seeing that with our defense.

The Bears defense is back. We were good in 2019, but there is no question we took a step back from 2018; well, we got that step back plus some. Better than 2018? Time will tell, but definitely on that same tier… that tier where the D can carry this team to victories. This is NOT a long term winning strategy; the offense will need to be there. We have time. Staying healthy is most important for the D right now; getting better every week should be the goal for the offense. If both of those things happen…

Ace in the Hole: Bears D… 5 sacks, 2 TOs, 1 TD, and a late game saving stop

OK, so the offense still won’t be where we want it to be after this week, but the Rams are no slouch on D… but our D will outshine them. The boys will come through (again) on this Monday nighter and help the Bears climb to 6-1. Will we have to defeat the refs in this one too? Well, it can’t be worse than last week, can it? I saw something about Bears fans being one of the biggest complainers about the refs… haha. You play the Packers and refs in Lambeau every year and see what you think. Anyways, hope the refs got the memo on the Fuller shoulder led hits; hope they also brushed up on PI calls. This Bears D is tough and physical; look for more of the same on Monday night. Bear Down!!!
