So the Dodgers won the World Series… big deal. I did say I wanted the Rays to win; I also said I wouldn’t mind if the Dodgers won… why did I say that? Unfortunately, he was on the mound for the Bartman incident; remember, I can only talk about it because the Cubs finally won one. Yes, even after that, even after the more important error that inning, I knew Prior would recover; he couldn’t. There were too many forces working against him that evening. Worse than that, is how the rest of his career transpired. After winning 18 games in 03, he only won 18 more the rest of his career, which only lasted part of the next three years. It was a sad fall from glory for Mark Prior and the Cubs after that magical 2003. Prior would throw his last pitch in the majors for the Cubs at the age of 25 in 2006.
