All of a sudden, after only coming back from down 2 runs one time this year, the Cubs did it for the second time this week. Yes, that’s three times now for all you keeping track at home. If the last one against Sonny Gray was improbable, this one was damn near impossible.
The Brewers bullpen has been lights out, led by their guy Hader. I don’t think he gave up a run all year… something like that. Cubs down by 2 with 3 outs to go, facing him… Well, how the hell did we get here anyways? Because we can’t hit worth a lick. We went 17 innings without a run so far in Milwaukee to this point. Sure, they had that guy Woodruff… he’s supposedly pretty good; he did show that Friday night. Then today they threw a little of this and a little of that at us. JD in the booth had all the excuses lined up. They’re facing this type of pitcher, then this type, then this type… well, no shit JD. This is the major leagues; this is what’s come to be known as a bullpen game, and the Brewers were executing it to perfection. No runs in 17 innings? GTFOH… And now, against Hader down 2… the Cubs were losing the first two games in the series.
But then something happened, and out of all guys Heyward. For all the crap I talk about him, he’s been one of our best hitters this year; that’s saying something. He crushed a 3 run bomb off the unhittable dude… Wow! And just like that, the Cubs were up… then for good measure, this dude Vargas takes him deep; I’m sorry… I don’t know this guy’s story, but I’m thankful for him… and for that play in the bottom of the inning? Welcome to Chicago bro.

I’m just hoping that the Cubs start making it their business to win games, and to do that, score runs. They blew Yu’s last great start by putting up a goose egg; they were about to do that to Kyle.
