So I get home from work yesterday, and what is sitting on our kitchen table? A box of that Eddie Jackson cereal. I asked my wife if this was a joke. I told you what I felt like doing to that cereal after watching Eddie’s noteworthy performance on Sunday night… I just had to laugh. I mean, they kind of look like Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and that’s one of the most popular cereals in our house, so… I still don’t think I’ll try it though… haha.
Well, it’s more than 24 hours later; had to let the dust settle a bit. I didn’t watch any postgame stuff; I rarely do if the Bears lose. I don’t want to hear some other folks rehash the pain; I can do that just fine by myself. I’ll catch stuff here and there on Twitter. I may read an article or two; I see quotes from interviews, etc. The one that I keep thinking about is that Nagy one, where he said something like, when Eddie and Tashuan didn’t touch the WR when he went to the ground, that is was a learning moment… are you kidding me? It’s an ass kicking, benching moment. I mean, how low does your awareness have to be to NOT touch the guy? These aren’t rookies out there; shit, even if they were. See, this a clear example of something that Nagy and the coaching staff should have pounced on, and not rubbed the players’ backs and told them to learn from it; maybe things are different behind closed doors.
You see, I remember another player who really F’d up in a game; it was a game I was there for… my son’s first game. Thankfully it was a win, but there was one player who did his best to make it a loss; Cody Parkey missed 4 kicks that day. I hate to even say his name, but I think back to that moment… and how Nagy stuck by him. I didn’t agree, but I could understand it; you want to stick by your players, no doubt. Everybody has bad games, no doubt. Yet, when a kicker misses 4 kicks… in 1 game… not sure how many times that has happened, and what the result was the Monday after the game, but his ass should have been on the street. If he was, maybe 2018 turns out differently; that’s water under the bridge at this point.
Point is though, this ain’t a daycare; it’s football at its highest level. It is a game, sure, but one that is a big business, one whose ultimate goal is to win. If there is a player that is NOT helping the team work towards winning, they should not be here any longer. And yes, you have to resist the week to week overreactions that IS the NFL, but in Eddie’s case, I think we have more than 1 week to evaluate. Yes, I’m saying he should be cut.

We need to start knowing, because what we do know, is that Dalton is not the answer; again, we have much more than one game’s proof of that.
