September 15, 2021: The Cereal Saga

posted in: Bears | 0

So back to this cereal, the box of “Bo Jacks” that my wife left on my kitchen table the day after quite possibly the worst game in the career of the cereal’s namesake Eddie Jackson. Yeah, well, I guess I’m calmed down a bit from Sunday night’s debacle, but still not willing to try the cereal… but my son wanted to try it… haha. Yes, it was still in the pantry; I didn’t throw it away.

He liked it. It’s a Cinnamon Toast Crunch knockoff pretty much. Nothing will be like the original Cinnamon Toast Crunch. My son had a project last year comparing CTC to the generic, Aldi version; there was no comparison. Figured this Bo Jack crap tastes the same. As we wrapped up our morning bowls of cereal, he left a little in there… Normally, I would suck it down, before I wash the bowl. I did a double take… thought for a quick second… then downed these “can’t tackle worth shit” squares… it was just as I thought; generic, knockoff version of CTC… kind of like this version of Eddie Jackson, and every one since 2018, which has been a knock-off of who we thought he was…

Enough about Eddie, and cereal for that matter. Looking forward to another opportunity for Dalton to show us why he is the starting QB on Sunday, at Soldier Field, against his ex-team. Ah yes, the Andy Dalton revenge game; THIS is the reason we’re rolling with him, right? To give him THIS opportunity? THIS was the secret handshake agreement between him and Nagy? I hope so… because this can’t go on for much longer. Again, nothing against Dalton, but… we know who he is; we want to get to know our first round pick… asap. In fact, I saw something yesterday I think, about how Matt Nagy is the odds on favorite for first NFL coach to be fired this year. The longer he decides to stick with Andy, the better chance that these odds are correct.

So Eddie, Andy, and Nagy… I think that about sums up my early Bears shit list. I honestly have no faith in Eddie or Andy changing this. The only way Nagy comes off this list is if he starts Fields… then we’ll have to see how this “great offensive mind” works with the golden child; that should be interesting. I’m assuming the shitty play calling that we witnessed in Game 1 was because of the QB…??? Like I said, it wasn’t HORRIBLE… I’m used to this dink and dunk, refusing to continue to run the football, offense. I’m tired of it. I can’t imagine what it would be like to see a real NFL offense wearing Bears uniforms. WRs running routes downfield, getting open, AND the QB connecting with them. Pitch and catch… seems elementary enough, eh Matt? Running the football when the other team is daring us to… continuing to run it until we get stopped… then taking that opportunity to amp up the passing game which has been opened up a bit due to the other team finally stopping our running game… this isn’t rocket science, is it?

OK; let me take a step back from the Bears for a minute. We’ll be back soon. There’s got to be some other stuff going on in Chicago sports, right?
