September 20, 2023: Fantasy Overload

Maybe too much of a good thing isn’t good? They say everything in moderation, so when I have 5 fantasy teams in action at the same time, I think… maybe this isn’t moderation? It’s like fantasy overload… add that with everything else going on, and yeah, it gets to be a lot. But hey, I knew managing multiple teams wouldn’t be easy; I took that challenge… haha. It’s not like I have a real job or anything like that…

It’s actually a good story in all 5 leagues. I’m in the fantasy baseball semifinals in both of my leagues, while in football, I turned an 0-3 week 1 into a 3-0 week 2. So yeah, not bad. My son was telling me we should play Fantasy Basketball… haha. Funny thing is, I used to do that too… and was pretty good. The only fantasy league I haven’t played in has been hockey; there’s always time for that. It would be nice to get paid to manage all these teams at a high level, but no… just taking pride in my craft… wanting to do everything I do really good… it doesn’t always work out that way; something has got to give.

Well, fantasy baseball will be over in 2 weeks max, then we can turn our attention completely to football. Hopefully I’ll be playing for the championship next week x2 in baseball, although early returns in both leagues aren’t good. I feel like my teams are cooling off at the wrong time; add in a couple injuries and… well… top 4 isn’t bad, right? It ain’t over until it’s over. One thing that’s for sure, I’ll be unloading all my bullets to try to do it; maybe this time, it won’t be enough. The thing that hurt me the most in both leagues was my highest paid, highest drafted pitcher. Sandy Alcantara has been a bust this year, let’s just be honest. And now, he’s on the IL. Thanks for nothing Sandy.

I took out my son in one of my fantasy football leagues; he wasn’t that upset. It’s a little too early in the season to get too upset about a loss. We were close heading into MNF, but with Pickens and the Pittsburgh D, I turned it into a laugher. My son said, I would have had you if you didn’t have guys on MNF. I told him… I have the same number of players as you… it wasn’t like they were extra… haha. I had the Pittsburgh D in another league too; boo ya! They were a waiver pickup in both leagues. Not too shabby. In my keeper league, seeing Brian Robinson and Tank Dell perform well on my bench made me smile; maybe I have my 2 keepers for next year already??? Too early to tell, but not a bad start.

OK, enough fantasy talk; I shouldn’t even be talking this much about it to be honest, but hey, it is something on my daily agenda of things to check on my phone. It’s better than talking more about the Bears right now, right?
