September 5, 2022: Bad News Bulls

Read something recently saying that Lonzo Ball will NOT be ready for the start of the season; that’s not what I wanted to hear. Not exactly the way we wanted to head into the season, without one of our best players. Sure, he’s not THE best player on the squad, but certainly an important piece. How important? The Bulls were 27-13 when he played his last game. They finished 46-36… do the math. The Bulls were 19-23 last season without Lonzo Ball on the court. I know there were other factors, injuries, etc… but the facts are the facts. The Bulls are not as good a team without Lonzo Ball.

The Bulls need to be at their best; let’s hope this news is just another bump in the road to his recovery. He hasn’t played a game in almost 8 months, and now you’re telling me it’s going to be longer??? What’s the real deal here? Are there some within the Bulls organization that think Lonzo has played his last game in a Bulls uni? That he’ll never fully recover from this latest injury? That his career is over? That would be sad, and no, I’m not starting any rumors, I’m just saying. If you had 8 months to recover and you’re STILL not ready to go… not a good sign, I’m sorry. When Lonzo was running the floor with our boys, man… the Bulls looked pretty damn good. I was looking forward to having the Bulls 100% healthy, back together on the court, duplicating their hot start from last season, this year. We’ll be down a guy to start things off…

The Cavs on the other hand will be up a guy. Did you see the Cavs acquired Donovan Mitchell? What a great move. I don’t care how many draft picks they gave up, nor do I care that Lauri is heading west. The Cavs had a good young team last year, and now they got better. This is more not-so-great news for the Bulls, as one of the teams in their division got stronger. Now watch LeBron wants to go back to Cleveland again… haha. The Cavs are better without him, and will be a big challenge to our boys this year… thus, the need to be 100%!!!

Who will fill in for Lonzo? Well, Ayo did a great job last year; I expect him to build on his rookie season, and continue to develop into a solid NBA player. We still do have Caruso of course; really like his game. The Bulls added veteran point guard Goran Dragic, most famous for being on one of Derrick Rose’s most famous poster dunks. Still, I like his game too. Is it enough to keep the Bulls afloat during Lonzo’s extended absence? Sure, but the Bulls are NOT as good a team without Lonzo Ball, period. He’ll need to come back at some point if the Bulls are going to make some serious noise this year.

OK, no more bad news Bulls. Let’s keep this thing positive heading into the season; the NBA season IS right around the corner too. The first preseason game is less than a month away! I’m ready. Go Bulls!!!
